Alien Resurrection by Chris Cope
While following an invading procession of itchy grubs in my backyard, they lead me to find a dead but unusually colourful wasp, now he lives again.
Alien Resurrection – is a 6 image focus stacked image using my A7RM2, a tripod and the small flexible spot autofocus area to capture focus on key parts of the wasp with extremely narrow depth of field at f/2.8 on the SEL90M28. The foreground scene is water condensation inside a clear plastic container with the wasp placed on top. The Lighting I have used is a combination of backlit sunlight and my trusty old HVL-F42AM with the Sony ADP-MAA adapter and a pixel FC-313 flashgun cable giving both a pleasing bokeh effect in the background and hard abstract highlights from the condensation in the foreground.
Post processing was a Lightroom to Photoshop to Lightroom round trip for the focus stack, spot cleanup and high pass filter. Then a .5 stop dodge and burn to the subject, top and bottom of the image with the adjustment brush back in lightroom to give extra depth and that floating in air feeling.
